Beirut: At least 59 people were killed and 273 injured in Israeli strikes on the Gaza Strip over the past 24 hours, the Gaza Health Ministry said on Saturday.

“Over the past 24 hours, the Israeli occupation carried out four massacres on families in the Gaza Strip, with 59 people dead and 273 injured admitted to hospitals,” the ministry said in a statement.

The death toll from Israeli strikes on the Gaza Strip since the beginning of the conflict has risen to 45,717, with 108,856 injured, the ministry added.

On October 7, 2023, Israel was subjected to an unprecedented rocket attack from the Gaza Strip. In addition, fighters of Palestinian movement Hamas infiltrated the border areas, opened fire on the military and civilians and took hostages. Israeli authorities say that about 1,200 people were killed during the raid. In response, the Israel Defense Forces launched Operation Iron Swords in Gaza and announced a complete blockade of the enclave.
