Bandipora: Gurez Valley in Bandipora showcases a heartening display of cultural pride amidst the serene yet harsh winter landscape.

A group of men sitting on a snow-covered peak seems to be enjoying such a moment as they perform folk songs in their traditional attire and voice, sending across the region with heartfelt resonance.

According to the information gathered by news agency JKNS, the video, which is now viral and widely shared on social media, reveals their indomitable spirit while singing against the backdrop of Gurez’s white expanse.

Wearing traditional attires and huddled together, the harmonized voices echo timeless folk melodies of Kashmir, creating warmth and camaraderie despite the bitter cold.

Netizens have applauded the group for their efforts towards maintaining their rich tradition despite all possible options of a cold winter. This short video clip also won admiration and has highlighted cultural resilience of Gurez, the most remote valley, which gets cut off through thick snowfall during winter months.

Their performance is a poignant reminder of the strong bond between Kashmir’s people and their cultural roots. While modernity often overshadows traditional practices, this act serves as a powerful celebration of identity, illustrating how music and tradition can thrive even in the most challenging circumstances.

Local resident Bashir Ahmed Teroo shared, “In winter, we organize traditional folk songs and cultural music events to showcase our Gurezi culture. It’s a common practice during the season.

Notably, these moments of cultural expression continue to inspire, reminding us of the importance of preserving the diverse heritage that defines the region.—(JKNS)
