Jammu: After virtually inaugurating the strategic Jammu Railway Division, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said that the Indian railways are developing on four parameters including modernisation, enhanced facilities, connectivity, and employment.

“The last decade has witnessed a transformation in the Indian Railways and it is developing on four parameters,” PM Modi said after virtually inaugurating the highly demanded Jammu Railway Division.

Modi said, “Indian railway is developing infrastructure modernisation, hi-tech facilities for passengers, better connectivity and employment generation.”

The whole of the nation is marching towards progress on the path of “sabka saath sabka vikas”, said the Prime Minister.

He also said that till 2014, only 35 percent of the electrification of Railways was completed but at present, we are closer to achieving a target of cent percent electrification of Railways.

He also stated that the world’s highest rail cable-stayed bridge Anji Khad on river Chenab in the Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir is complete and will soon connect Jammu and Kashmir with the rest of the country.

“The new Jammu Railway Division will create employment opportunities, foster infrastructure development, promote tourism, and lead to overall socio-economic progress in the region,” he stated.

Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, and Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah attended the event in Jammu.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday inaugurated and laid foundation stones for several key railway projects marking a significant step towards enhancing regional connectivity.

Besides inaugurating the newly established Jammu Railway Division in Jammu, he also simultaneously inaugurated the recently completed Charlapalli Terminal Station in Telangana and laid the foundation stone for the Rayagada Railway Division Building of the East Coast Railway in Odisha.

The creation of the Jammu Railway Division encompasses 742.1 km of railway lines, including the Pathankot-Jammu-Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla route.

The new division is expected to bring substantial benefits to Jammu and Kashmir and neighbouring areas, fulfilling a long-standing demand for improved rail connectivity with the rest of India.
