Baramulla: In a remarkable effort to promote sportsmanship and raise awareness about the importance of a drug-free society, the Department of Youth Services and Sports (YSS), in collaboration with the District Social Welfare Office Baramulla, organized Sub-Division Level Volleyball Tournaments under the banner of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA) across five subdivisions: Baramulla, Uri, Sopore, Pattan, and Tangmarg.
Sub-Division Baramulla
The tournament in Baramulla was inaugurated by Nazir Ahmad Bhat, District Youth Services and Sports Officer (DYSSO) Baramulla, alongside officials from the District Social Welfare Office, at HS Dewan Bagh. The event began with a collective pledge by officials, students, and participants to work towards a drug-free India.

BHSS Baramulla vs. HS Nadihal: HS Nadihal emerged victorious.
HS Binner vs. HS Khadniyar: HS Binner claimed the win.
Sub-Division Sopore
Zone Sopore hosted the tournament at Subhana Sopore Sports Complex, starting with an opening ceremony graced by dignitaries from the local administration and sports authorities.

Valley Public School vs. BHSS Sopore: BHSS Sopore dominated with a 3-0 win.
Sub-Division Pattan
Day 2 at HSS Pattan saw thrilling matches, including two semifinals and the grand finale:
Semifinals:
Springdales Public School Palhallan vs. HSS Pattan: HSS Pattan advanced to the final.
HSS Sultanpora vs. New Era Public School Pattan: HSS Sultanpora secured a spot in the final.
Final:
HSS Pattan defeated HSS Sultanpora in a high-voltage match to claim the trophy.
Sub-Division Uri
Matches were held at Mini-Stadium Uri, with intense competition leading to the final on January 17, 2025.
Semifinals:
HSS Bhajama (Zone Chandanwari) vs. BHSS Uri (Zone Uri): Zone Chandanwari advanced.
HSS Nambla (Zone Uri) vs. HSS Boniyar (Zone Boniyar): Zone Uri moved to the final.
Sub-Division Tangmarg
The Sub-Division Gulmarg tournament, conducted at GHS Ferozpora, saw vibrant participation. The event was inaugurated by the Worthy SDM Gulmarg, who emphasized the role of sports in promoting a healthy, drug-free lifestyle.
12 teams competed with enthusiasm and showcased their talent.
A total of over 300 players participated across the tournaments, highlighting the department’s commitment to engaging youth in positive, healthy activities. DYSSO Baramulla, Nazir Ahmad Bhat, emphasized the importance of sports in fostering discipline, teamwork, and a sense of purpose among young individuals.
The events under the NMBA banner continue to serve as powerful platforms to spread the message of a drug-free society while celebrating the spirit of sportsmanship.
