In response to a request from the District Magistrate, Prayagraj, the Indian Army swiftly mobilised to assist in the aftermath of a train collision and derailment near Fatehpur, Uttar Pradesh, approximately 70 km from Prayagraj. The incident occurred at 9 AM on 4th February 2025, when a moving goods train collided with a stationary goods train, leading to the derailment of an engine and a guard’s coach. No casualties have been reported.

A specialist Engineer Task Force (ETF) was mobilised and reached the site with necessary vehicles, heavy machinery, and equipment. The Army team has successfully removed one guard wagon from the track, while efforts are ongoing for the removal of the locomotive using high-duty poclains.

Meanwhile, the Railways is attempting a vertical lift for engine removal, and Army dozers at the site are actively engaged in clearing and dragging debris from the track.

The Indian Army remains committed to providing all possible assistance to expedite restoration efforts and ensure the resumption of railway operations at the earliest.
