SHEW, Health Department organises Awareness Camp on PC&PNDT Act at Shopian

Shopian,10 February:

Sankalp Hub for Empowerment of Women, Shopian, in collaboration with the Department of Health, organized an awareness programme regarding PC&PNDT act under the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao initiative at SBGM college Arhama, Shopian.

The programme aimed to educate participants on the Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (PC&PNDT) Act, which plays a crucial role in preventing gender-biased sex selection and ensuring the protection of the girl child.

Dr. Abiroo, Guest Speaker from the Department of Health, addressed the gathering and provided valuable insights into the PCPNDT Act, stressing the need for strict enforcement to combat female foeticide and promote gender balance.

District Mission Coordinator, Sankalp Hub for Empowerment of Women, Shopian, sensitized the audience on the importance of the girl child, highlighting the need for collective efforts to create an environment where girls can thrive and achieve their full potential.

Adding to the discourse, Gender Specialist, Sankalp Hub for Empowerment of Women Shopian emphasized the significance of gender equality, advocating for a shift in societal attitudes to ensure equal opportunities and rights for all.

The programme concluded with a collective commitment to support the objectives of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, ensuring a brighter and more inclusive future for the girl child.
