Srinagar: Shab-e-Baraat, the night of forgiveness, is being observed with religious fervor across Kashmir as thousands of devotees gathered in mosques and shrines to offer prayers and seek divine blessings.

Details available with news agency JKNS said that, the largest congregation was held at Dargah Hazratbal, where thousands of people participated in night-long prayers, reciting the Holy Quran and seeking forgiveness.

Reports from all over Kashmir gathered by JKNS said that people have gathered at locals masjids and shrines to pray on the aspicious occasion.

Political and Administrative Leaders Extend Greetings

Meanwhile, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha greeted the people on the occasion of Shab-e-Baraat and extended his best wishes. Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Vijay Kumar Bidhuri and Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir V.K. Birdi also conveyed their greetings, wishing for peace and prosperity in the region.

Various political leaders also extended their greetings to the people of Jammu and Kashmir. PDP president Mehbooba Mufti, Waqf Board Chairperson Darakhshan Andrabi, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Dr. Bilal Mohi-ud-Din Bhat, Senior Supritendent of police Imtiyaz Hussain Mir, and MLA Lal Chowk Ahsan Pardesi wished for divine blessings on the auspicious night.

Apni Party President Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari also greeted the people, emphasizing the significance of the night and urging everyone to pray for peace, prosperity, and harmony.

Shab-e-Baraat, considered one of the holiest nights in Islam, is observed with special prayers, recitation of the Holy Quran, and seeking forgiveness. People also visit graveyards to pray for their departed loved ones. The night is marked by acts of charity, with many distributing food among the underprivileged.
