“Army Father’s Heartfelt Gift: Donates Son’s Organs to Save Lives After Tragic Accident”

Havildar Naresh Kumar, a serving NCO of the 10th Battalion the MAHAR Regiment, has a story of immense courage, selflessness, and humanity.

Master Arshdeep Singh son of Havildar Naresh Kumar, met with a tragic road accident and later succumbed to his injuries. In the face of unimaginable grief, the loss of his
18 year old son, he made a decision that turned his personal pain into hope for others.

Choosing to donate his son’s organs, he gave six critically ill patients a second chance at life. On 16 Feb 2025, he consented to donate liver, kidney pancreas and cornea
and ensured that Arshdeep’s legacy would live on, not just in memory, but in the lives he saved. His act of kindness in the darkest moment of his life is a testament to the
power of love and generosity.

On 16 Feb 2025, The liver and kidney were swiftly transported via a green corridor to the Army Hospital Research and Referral in New Delhi. The kidney and pancreas went
to a patient battling life-threatening Type 1 Diabetes with Chronic Kidney Disease at PGI. The corneas were preserved to restore sight to those in need. This life-saving effort was made possible through the expertise of Command Hospital, Chandimandir,
renowned for its excellence in organ retrieval.

Havildar Naresh Kumar’s sacrifice is not just a testament to his grit and resilience, it is an inspiration. His selfless act will encourage many to consider organ donation, proving that even in the face of personal loss, one can bring light into the lives of others
