Srinagar: Muhammad Qais, an 8th-class student from Natipora, Srinagar, has made his city proud by winning the gold medal and emerging as the UT Champion in the 8th J&K UT-Level Softense Championship, which concluded in Srinagar.
The championship, organized by the J&K Amateur Softense Association under the banner of the Amateur Softense Federation of India, was held in collaboration with the J&K Sports Council. The three-day event took place at Tense Court, Rajbagh, from February 22 to 24 and saw the participation of players from all 20 districts of Jammu and Kashmir.
Speaking about his victory, an elated Qais said, “Winning this gold medal is a dream come true. The competition was tough, but I gave my best. I dedicate this victory to my family, coaches, and everyone who supported me. This achievement has motivated me to work even harder and aim for bigger competitions in the future.”
The championship provided young athletes with a platform to showcase their talent and hone their skills. Officials present at the event appreciated the enthusiasm and dedication of the participants, emphasizing the importance of promoting such sports in the region.
