Srinagar,: MLA Lal Chowk, Ahsan Pardesi, on Tuesday raised the issue of exclusion of Vethpara and Padshahi Bagh from voter lists and their absence from designated municipal and block jurisdictions in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly, urging the government to address the matter urgently.

While addressing assembly, as per news agency JKNS, Pardesi said that the exclusion of these areas has led to disempowerment of residents and hindered their development. “There is a status quo over development in these areas, with no significant infrastructure or civic progress taking place. Basic amenities and essential public services remain neglected due to this administrative ambiguity,” he said.

He further highlighted that locals have been deprived of employment opportunities since many government recruitments require applicants to specify their ward or block number something these areas lack due to their non-inclusion in official municipal records.

Pardesi urged the government to immediately include Vethpara and Padshahi Bagh under the block jurisdiction to ensure due representation and access to developmental schemes. “Only through proper inclusion can these areas benefit from government welfare programs, infrastructure projects, and employment opportunities that are currently beyond their reach,” he asserted.

The government has assured early redressal of the issue, acknowledging the concerns raised regarding the administrative ambiguity and its impact on residents. (JKNS)
