Qazigund (Kulgam): A public meeting was held at the Police Station in Qazigund, Kulgam district, on Thursday, aimed at strengthening the relationship between the police and the public. The meeting was chaired by SSP Kulgam, Sahil Sarangal, and attended by several senior officials, including SP NHW Mumtaz Ali Bhatti, SDPO Qazigund Mansoor Ayaz, and SHO Qazigund Masood-ul-Hassan.
The gathering saw active participation from a diverse group of attendees, including Numberdars, Chowkidars, members of the Trader’s Association from Qazigund town, local transporters, and other respected citizens from the surrounding areas.
A wide range of issues were discussed during the meeting, such as road connectivity, electricity shortages, water supply, solar lighting, the drug menace, rising market prices, and other public service concerns. All grievances raised during the session were listened to attentively, with assurances given that police-related issues would be addressed in accordance with the law. Other concerns were pledged to be forwarded to the relevant departments for resolution.
The police emphasized the importance of public cooperation in tackling the growing problem of drug abuse and other social crimes. A police official highlighted that such meetings are vital for fostering a transparent, accountable, and responsive police force that is sensitive to the needs and concerns of the public.
SSP Kulgam Sahil Sarangal, IPS, speaking at the event, emphasized that these interactions are intended to encourage public suggestions and support for improving policing in the region. He assured that these meetings would continue in the future to strengthen the relationship between law enforcement and the community.
Participants expressed their appreciation for the police’s efforts in organizing such dialogues and pledged their full support in combating the social ills affecting the community.
