Karnah Kupwara: Karnah-Kupwara highway was finally reopened for vehicular movement late Thursday night. As soon as the road was cleared, hundreds of passengers traveled from Chowkibal to Karnah and vice versa, including those who had been stranded due to the road closure.

Following the road’s reopening, two deceased individuals who had been stranded on the other side of Sadhna Pass for several days were also brought back to their respective areas in Karnah. Local administration and concerned authorities worked overnight to clear the highway, ensuring that the deceased could reach their native places without further delay.

On Friday morning, the funeral prayer for a young child from Khudpara, Karnah, was held, attended by thousands of mourners. The entire atmosphere was filled with grief, and tears flowed freely as people bid their final goodbyes. Similarly, the funeral of the deceased from Gabra was also completed.

It is noteworthy that heavy snowfall had not only blocked roads but had also left hundreds of passengers stranded while electricity supply remained disrupted. However, after ight days of relentless efforts, the electricity department successfully restored power, providing much-needed relief to the residents.

For four consecutive days the locals faced immense hardships due to snowfall and road closures, but with the restoration of electricity, daily activities have started returning to normal. The people of Karnah appreciated the efforts of the administration but emphasized the need forbetter preparedness in handling such situations during snowfall, ensuring that no one has to suffer similar hardships in the futur.

Meanwhile, the administration has urged the public to remain in contact with control rooms before undertaking travel to higher altitudes during adverse weather conditions
