On the occasion of International Women’s Day, the Army Wives Welfare Association (AWWA) organised a series of events and activities across India, celebrating the strength, resilience and empowerment of women. The day was marked by a nationwide voluntary blood donation drive led by Mrs Sunita Dwivedi, President AWWA, who spearheaded a team of passionate volunteers dedicated to saving lives and in turn encouraging people to come forward and donate blood for the good cause.

This year, AWWA took a significant step in promoting women’s health and solidarity by encouraging women from all walks of life to donate blood, thereby contributing to the essential need for blood in medical emergencies. Mrs Dwivedi, along with hundreds of women volunteers, came together to make a difference, reaffirming the commitment to both the well-being of society and women’s pivotal role in contributing to community health.

In addition to the blood donation initiative, a series of activities aimed at celebrating women’s achievements, empowerment and fostering a sense of unity and joy were held. Some of the highlights included:

  • AWWA Entrepreneur Exhibitions. Exhibitions were organised by AWWA in collaborations by partners to provide an exquisite platform for women entrepreneurs to showcase their talent, innovative businesses and products, with a goal to empower them to thrive in today’s competitive markets and in turn contribute towards development of our nation and goal of Viksit Bharat.
  • Enhance Group Dynamism and Happiness Index. To promote mental well-being and camaraderie among members, activities like trekking and outdoor excursions, were organised at various places. The activities offered opportunities to bond, relax and revitalize.
  • Financial Literacy Amongst Women for Greater Independence. Workshops are being coordinated for women from different walks of life and remote areas by experts to enhance financial literacy, digital safety measures in banking and investment avenues.

The event was a resounding success, with participation from women across the nation, exemplifying the spirit of unity and the power of collective action. AWWA has been at the forefront of creating positive change in women’s lives.
