Srinagar The Jammu and Kashmir government on Tuesday stated that no decision has been made yet regarding the establishment of a General Hospital in the vacant G.B. Pant Hospital building at Sonwar.

As per news agency JKNS, Education Minister Sakina Masood Itoo, responding to a question in the Legislative Assembly, confirmed that the pediatric hospital was shifted from G.B. Pant Hospital to Bemina.

However, she added that the Chest Disease Hospital is currently running a pulmonary OPD at the old G.B. Pant building, where ECGs and X-rays are conducted regularly, and CT scans are done once a week.

On replying to a queation by MLA Pardesi, whether over 60,000 residents in the area now lack immediate access to healthcare, Itoo said, that the hospital has good infrastructure but clarified that no final decision has been taken on its future use.

“We will review the situation and explore all possible options to utilize the infrastructure in the best way,” Itoo assured. (JKNS)
