Mumbai: Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday made an announcement in the Maharashtra Assembly that it is mandatory to take prior permission from the police for installing loud- speakers at any place of worship in the state.
He said that permission should be taken for the loudspeakers at any place of worship, the loud- speakers should be turned off from 10 pm to 6 am.
He said that as per instructions of the court, noise level should not exceed the limit of 55 decibels in the morning and 45 decibels at night between 10 pm and 6 am.
Fadnavis said that a police inspector will be responsible for ensuring that this rule is strictly followed.
If anyone tries to violate this rule, action will be taken against the concerned persons, he added.
If concerned police inspector ignores this, action will be taken against them, warned Fadnavis.
