Centuries-old tradition Zool festival called off in Ashmuqam
Srinagar, April 07: Amid coronavirus fear in Kashmir, the Srinagar administration Tuesday imposed ban on holding any religious congregation on the eve of Shab-e-Baraat.As per an order issued by Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary prohibits all sort of religious congregation and public movement on the occasion of Shab-e-Barat in Srinagar.Shab-e-Baraat is observed across the sub-continent on 14th night of Islaic calendar month, Shabaan.However, in Ashmuqam area of Anantnag, centuries-old tradition of burning Mashals also known as ‘Zool’ has been called off due to the prevailing situation in the valley.
