Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir government has stated that the feasibility study for a parallel flyover from Dalgate to Jehangir Chowk has been completed, and the Detailed Project Report (DPR) is under appraisal.
The statement was made in response to a question by Mr. Tanveer Sadiq in the Legislative Assembly. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, who is the Minister In-Charge of the Housing and Urban Development Department, said that the feasibility study for the Dalgate-Jehangir Chowk flyover has been completed, and its DPR is currently under appraisal.
Omar further stated that traffic congestion continues to impact daily commuters, emergency services, and businesses in Srinagar, particularly in Lal Chowk and Jehangir Chowk.
However, the government refuted the claim that the narrowing of Maulana Azad Road under the Smart City Project has worsened congestion.
Meanwhile, the department stated that a DPR for the construction of a VOP bridge/flyover from Convent School (Joggers Park) to M A Link Road via Sherwani Road over River Jhelum is under examination by the Public Works (R&B) Department. (JKNS)
