Youth Interstate Cultural Exchange Program Announced

Srinagar: The Youth Hostels Association of India (YHAI) Women’s Wing Adhoc Unit and YHAI Srinagar Unit 2nd jointly organized a felicitation ceremony at the YHAI office in Srinagar to honor distinguished personalities and discuss future initiatives for youth development.

Mr. Shaunak Ray, Municipal Youth Officer, Department of Youth Services & Sports, Government of West Bengal, and In-Charge of Asansol Youth Hostel, was felicitated for his contribution to youth welfare and hostel activities. The event was chaired by Mr. Showkat Ashai, State Convenor, YHAI J&K, who was also honored by YHAI West Bengal State Branch in recognition of his efforts in strengthening YHAI’s role in the region.

A key outcome of the event was the announcement of a Youth Interstate Cultural Exchange Program between YHAI West Bengal and YHAI Jammu & Kashmir. The initiative aims to promote cultural integration, national unity, and youth engagement by facilitating visits between young members of both states to experience diverse cultures and foster mutual understanding.

During his address, Mr. Shaunak Ray highlighted the importance of youth exchange programs in nation-building, while Mr. Showkat Ashai emphasized YHAI’s role in bridging cultures through adventure, travel, and cultural initiatives.

The event saw active participation from senior YHAI officials and members, including Dr. Nighat Ara, Mrs. Shahnaz Ara, Mr. Ajaz Khan, Dr. Asmat, Dr. Yasmeen, Mrs. Sabiya Mahajan, and Mr. Rafiq Ahmed, who pledged full support for the initiative.

The event concluded with a collective commitment to strengthening inter-state cooperation and enhancing YHAI’s role in national youth development.
