DC Bandipora launches special registration drive for labourers
The District Administration Bandipora today launched a special registration drive for laborers in the district.
In this regard three special registration cells were also established at three surplus blocks-Hajin, Nowgam and Mini-Secretariat here.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmad said that the three registration cells have been established in pursuance to the nation-wide Mission Mode project and Jan Abhiyan launched by the Labour and Employment department.
He said the administration with active support of the Health department and CSC centres, these labour registration cells will house 1 dental surgeon (for issuance of age certificates) and 2 CSC operators for facilitating online applications.
Dr Owais said he has already directed the relevant departments to collaborate and make the mission mode project a success in the district so that all the left out labourers of different categories are enrolled so that they get benefitted by the government schemes.
He said the Department of Labour has already registered about 25,000 labourers with the Building and Other Construction Workers Board and has been asked to cover all the eligible labourers during the Jan Abhiyan.
The Deputy Commissioner has appealed to the labourers of the district to enroll themselves in the nearest registration cell so that they can avail the benefits of various welfare schemes.
He said earlier as part of Jan Abhiyan the administration distributed Rs.46.41 lakh assistance under various welfare schemes among 36 construction workers/ dependents of deceased construction workers Block Dewas program at Aloosa.
The DC said that the department is further working on disbursement of educational assistance among around 2500 registered construction workers till Oct 2.
