Kathua: Two terrorists have been killed, while five soldiers, including an officer, sustained injuries in an ongoing encounter in the Juthana area of Kathua.

Official sources told news agency JKNS that security forces launched a cordon and search operation in the area following specific intelligence inputs about the presence of terrorists. As the forces moved in on the suspected location, the terrorists opened fire, leading to a fierce exchange of gunfire.

During the encounter, five soldiers, including SDPO Border DySP Dheeraj Katoch, sustained injuries. Among them, three are reported to be in critical condition. The injured personnel were immediately shifted to a medical facility for treatment.

They said that the operation is still underway in the area. Additional reinforcements have been rushed to the area to prevent any escape attempts by remaining terrorists, if any.

Security forces have intensified the search operation in the vicinity to ensure the complete elimination of the threat. (JKNS)
