Dr Farooq’s praising China a ‘figment of imagination’, a stunt to stay relevant

People happy with GoI post Aug 5 last year, NC president must stop talking in different tones, people of J&K wise enough to understand new political stunts of NC chief

Srinagar, Sep 24: Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) JK spokesman Altaf Thakur while hitting out at the National Conference president Dr Farooq Abdullah for stating that Kashmiris would like to be ruled by Chinese rather than New Delhi as a “figment of imagination” and claims far from the reality.
In a sharp reaction to Dr Farooq’s assertions during an interview with Karan Thapar, Thakur said that Dr Farooq is trying to play cheap politics over Kashmir once again as the fact remains that with the help of historic decision by the GoI on August 5 last year, the mainstream parties, who ruled and looted erstwhile state coffers for their own good, stand irrelevant. “Now these politicians are praising China in a bid to create a new political discourse, which won’t be allowed at all,” Thakur said.
He said people of Kashmir, Jammu and Ladakh, for the first time are heaving a sigh of relief and are satisfied and contended with the last year’s August 5 decesion and want to live a peaceful life without any intervention of the political parties who always exploited them for one or the other reason. “Dr Farooq knows that he has nothing to sell and is now busy in concocting stories and tales just to stay relevant in politics,” Thakur said.
He said that people of J&K want to be ruled by GoI as for the first time, benefits are reaching directly to common people without any hassle. “J&K is on the path of development, peace and prosperity like any other state or UT of India. Dr Farooq is trying to stay relevant and keep something for his children and grandchildren as reality is that all those who ruined J&K for the past 70 years are irrelevant and have no issue to raise,” Thakur said, adding that sitting in parliament, taking India’s salary and praising China doesn’t suit a politician like Dr Farooq.
About the domicile certificates, Thakur said that it was a move to ensure transparency and to do away with inequality at regional levels. “There is no politics in having a domicile certificates for the natives of J&K. Now some people want to make this an issue out of nothing,” he said. Taking at dig at Dr Farooq, Thakur said that post August 5, last year, people of J&K are feeling free and are living in peaceful atmosphere unlike past 70 years, where political parties including the one headed by Dr Faroq had held people hostages on one or the other pretext. “Today no one is slave of any political party and there is a freedom of every kind in J&K UT,” Thakur said, adding that Dr Farooq’s claim that if forces are pulled out of streets, people would flood the roads in protest is nothing but a direct outcome of daydreaming.
“People of Kashmir have realized that street protests won’t yield anything as seen in the past. There is no question of protesting against New Delhi as people are fully aware of cheap politics of politicians like Dr Farooq Abdullah, who has been speaking in one language in Parliament, and another in Kashmir,” Thakur said.
