Srinagar, Apr 30 (JKNS): The Jammu and Kashmir government on Wednesday issued an order directing Administrative Secretaries and UT-level Heads of Departments to ensure their presence at the Civil Secretariat in Srinagar starting May 5, 2025 (Monday).

As per Government Order issued following the meeting of Council of Ministers Decision a copy of which lies with news agency JKNS reads, “For effective and efficient conduct of official business at Civil Secretariat, it is hereby ordered that, Administrative Secretaries and Union Territory Level Heads of Departments shall ensure their availability at Civil Secretariat, Srinagar w.e.f 05th May (Monday), 2025.

However, they will attend the Civil Secretariat, Jammu, as per functional requirement, it reads.

Arrangements with regard to availability of staff of Administrative Departments of Civil Secretariat shall be determined by the respective Departments.

Estates Department, upon requisition by the concerned Administrative Departments, shall provide accommodation to the officers/officials, as per requirement.”

The development reaffirms the government’s shift away from the traditional Darbar Move practice.

Despite repeated assurances and speculations, the government has not yet restored the Darbar Move, leaving employees uncertain about its future. (JKNS)
