THE FOUR DECADE LONG LEGAL-CONFLICT HAS BADLY EFFECTED THE FAMOUS MUSLIM SHRINES IN KISHTWAR,” DARAKHSHAN
SaDr Andrabi inspects Ziarats, meets Waqf administrators & District Administration in Kishtwar during her one day visit to the District Headquarter Continuing with her mission of physical inspection of the Waqf managed shrines throughout J&K Dr Darakhshan Andrabi, the member of Central Waqf Council & Chairperson of Waqf Development Committee of Union Ministry of Minority Affairs today visited Kishtwar. After paying her obeisance at the shrines of Hazrat Shah Fareeduddin Bagdadi and Hazrat Shah Asrar-ud-din Bagdadi, Dr Darakhshan had a detailed meeting with the Waqf Management in the district about the issues, problems and management of these famous shrines. She also met the mujabirs of the shrines and the delegations of the common people and the Civil Society delegation of the area. She was accompanied by the BJP Minority Morcha President Showkat Giri. Dr Andrabi later had a meeting with the district administration also. Speaking to the media Dr Andrabi expressed her anguish over the poor condition of infrastructure and facilities created for the pilgrims at the shrines. She said that despite being very famous shrines throughout J&K, she was annoyed to see the pathetic condition of management. “It is really painful that these shrines have been allowed to remain in very poor conditions due to the political patronage for decades to the people who are exploiting the shrine-resources on their association with the shrines and thus looting the huge donations received every year. Four decade long legal fight has affected the management of these shrines beyond imagination,” said Dr Darakhshan. She said that the J&K Waqf Bodies have failed to look after and manage the shrines and other properties and the people of the UT have not been even allowed to think about this exploitation mismanagement for decades. “I talked to the people’s delegations and the local population is feeling helpless as the exploiters belonged to the ruling political classes. Today all those politicians are answerable who have created such a mess in the Waqf management for decades. Many political leaders, exploiters associated with famous shrines throughout J&K are unhappy with my mission of assessing the situation on the spot because they want the things to continue as before. But let me tell them cloud and clear that the things are bound to change and they have to be accounted for every penny looted by them,” said Chairperson WDC. Dr Andrabi assured the people that after the completion of her ground assessment soon, big decisions in accordance with people’s sentiments and wishes will be taken.
