Jammu, May 16 (JKNS): The Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has filed a case against a government teacher, contractor, and others for alleged misappropriation of school construction funds in Reasi district.

In a statement issued here to news agency JKNS reads, the Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has registered a case FIR No. 01/2025 in Police Station ACB Udhampur under sections 5(1)(d) r/w 5(2) of J&K P.C Act, Svt. 2006 and section 120-B RPC against Sajjad Hussain, then Teacher (Incharge Headmaster) of Government Middle School Jandreli, Zone Chassana, District Reasi, contractor Abdul Aziz, and others for misappropriation of funds.

The case was initiated following an enquiry triggered by a report from the Director School Education Jammu, which confirmed allegations of fund misappropriation and the use of substandard material in the construction of the school building of Middle School Jandreli, it reads.

The probe revealed that ₹11.50 lakhs were released in favour of Sajjad Hussain under the SSA scheme for construction of the said school building during 2016-17 by the then ZEO Chassana. The construction work was carried out through contractor Abdul Aziz without adhering to codal formalities, including fund withdrawal procedures, statement reads.

A spot inspection conducted by the Engineering Wing of ACB revealed numerous shortcomings such as cracks between slabs and beams, absence of electrical work, face lifting, cement flooring, and improper fixing of doors, windows, and glass strips. Additionally, the cash book was not maintained, and payments were made without following proper procedures, resulting in a loss of ₹1,65,634.86 to the government exchequer, it reads.

The ACB said that Sajjad Hussain, in connivance with Abdul Aziz and others, abused his official position to execute substandard construction work and unlawfully benefited the contractor, causing financial loss to the state. Further investigation in the case is underway, reads the statement. (JKNS)
