Govt Jobs for NOKs of Shelling Victims, announces LG Manoj Sinha

Poonch/Rajouri, May 21 (JKNS): In a powerful expression of solidarity and resolve, Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir Manoj Sinha on Wednesday undertook a visit to the border districts of Poonch and Rajouri to meet families affected by Pakistani shelling and to commend Indian Army troops involved in the recent Operation Sindoor.

Details available with news agency JKNS stated that LG Sinha began his visit from the shelling-affected areas of Dungus in Poonch and after that he visit Gurudwara Nangali Sahib for offering prayers, where he met grieving families of civilians who lost their lives in unprovoked Pakistani firing. Extending condolences, LG Sinha announced that one member from each martyred civilian’s family across J&K will be provided a government job.

The LG reaffirmed that rehabilitation of the affected families is a top priority and that the Centre and UT administration are jointly working on a comprehensive relief and compensation plan. “Under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji and Home Minister Shri Amit Shah ji, we are committed to ensuring that no family suffers in silence,” LG Sinha stated.

Later, the Lieutenant Governor visited the Poonch Brigade headquarters, where he interacted with Army and BSF personnel. Addressing the troops, LG Sinha hailed their decisive role in Operation Sindoor, stating, “The world now knows that nine terror launchpads across the border were destroyed. Within three days, the enemy came to its knees. Our Army’s bravery has made every Indian proud.”

He added, “India is the world’s fifth-largest economy, on its way to becoming the fourth. Our neighbour, meanwhile, sponsors terror with borrowed money. But India stands tall, firm and resolute.”

Following his engagements in Poonch, LG Sinha proceeded to GMC Rajouri, where he met civilians injured in recent shelling incidents and reviewed their medical treatment. He assured the families of continued support and rehabilitation measures.

LG Sinha’s visit follows the intense escalation on the LoC after the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, where Indian soldiers were ambushed. In retaliation, Indian forces launched Operation Sindoor on May 7, successfully targeting nine terror launchpads in areas opposite Poonch, Rajouri, and Akhnoor.

From May 8 to May 10, Pakistani forces responded by shelling civilian areas, resulting in multiple casualties, destruction of homes, and displacement. In addition to ground retaliation, the Indian Army deployed advanced air defence systems like Akashteer, which reportedly neutralized over 1,000 drone incursions.

Though Operation Sindoor is currently paused, Indian defence officials have maintained that all forward troops remain on high alert, ready to respond to any provocation with swift precision. (JKNS)
