Jammu: Union Home Minister Amit Shah landed in Jammu on Thursday evening for a two-day visit to the Union Territory his first since Operation Sindoor.

Sources told news agency JKNS that the Home Minister directly drove to Raj Bhawan, where he began chairing a high-level security review meeting at 9 PM. “The meeting is currently underway and is expected to assess the overall security scenario in J&K,” they said.

Top officials including Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, DGP J&K, Chief Secretary J&K, IGP Jammu and Kashmir, Div Com Jammu and Kashmir, all Security company DG’s, senior Army commanders, IGPs, and heads of CRPF, BSF, NIA, and RAW are in attendance at the meeting.

Officials said the agenda of the meeting includes reviewing anti-terror operations, infiltration threats along the Line of Control, and coordination between security agencies post the recent Poonch terror attacks.

“Security arrangements for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra are also being reviewed in detail during the meeting,” the sources added.

On Friday, Shah is scheduled to visit Poonch district, where he will meet families affected by recent Pakistani shelling along the border.

He is also expected to praise the BSF personnel deployed on the frontlines for “thwarting nefarious designs from across the border,” sources added.

This is Amit Shah’s first visit to Jammu and Kashmir after the launch of Operation Sindoor, a significant counter-terror initiative by India against Pakistan. (JKNS)
