Srinagar, July 1 (JKNS): In a major relief for parents, the Fee Fixation and Regulation Committee (FFRC) of Jammu and Kashmir has ordered that private schools shall charge only 50% of the transport fee during winter and summer vacations, provided the transport is school-owned and operated.

As per a corrigendum directive issued by Chairman FFRC accessed by news agency JKNS reads that, For outsourced or third-party transport services, no transport fee will be charged at all during the break period, the FFRC clarified in a fresh corrigendum issued to its earlier order.

In continuation of the above-referred order, the following addition/modification is made to Point No. 1 of the decisions. Revised Point No. 1 of the corrigendum reads, “On the matter of charging of Transport Fee by private schools during the winter break (Kashmir Division) and summer break (Jammu Division), it has been decided that the private schools will be charging only 50% of the transport fee provided the transport facility is owned and operated by the school itself, it reads.

In cases where the transport facility is outsourced, hired from a third party, or operated under a contractual arrangement, no transport fee shall be charged during the break periods by such outsourced agencies/transporters. This directive shall be effective from the academic session 2024-25 in Kashmir division and 2025-26 in Jammu division onwards,” it reads.

All other terms and conditions of the original order shall remain unchanged, it reads adding that the Director School Education, Kashmir/Jammu, shall ensure strict adherence to this clarification while monitoring of implementation thereof, reads the corrigendum. (JKNS)
