Ramban, July 5 (JKNS): At least 36 Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra pilgrims were injured on Saturday after four buses of the Pahalgam-bound convoy collided with each other near the Chanderkote langar site in Ramban district.

An official told news agency JKNS that the accident occurred after the driver of one of the buses reportedly lost control due to a brake failure, leading to a chain collision involving three other buses in the convoy.

36 pilgrims were injured in the accident. All the injured pilgrims were shifted to District Hospital Ramban for medical treatment. Rescue teams from the police and health department responded promptly to the scene.

Earlier, Deputy Commissioner Ramban, Ilyas Khan, visited the hospital and enquired about the condition of the injured pilgrims.

As reported earlier, DC Ramban Ilyas Khan told JKNS that, “Due to break fail four vehicles collided with each othe, Most of the injuries are minor, and all the affected yatris are being discharged after receiving first aid.”

He added that alternate transport arrangements have been made for the pilgrims. “We have arranged replacement buses for the yatris. Those discharged from the hospital will also be accommodated and continue their journey,” the DC said.

Further investigation into the incident is underway. (JKNS)
