Srinagar, July 9 (JKNS): After weeks of intense heatwave conditions, Jammu and Kashmir is set to experience fresh spells of rain and cooler temperatures over the next 48 hours, the weatherman said on Wednesday.

Faizan Arif, independent weather forecaster (Kashmir Weather), told news agency JKNS that the upcoming weather activity is being triggered by a Western Disturbance and active monsoon winds, which are likely to bring widespread rainfall and a noticeable drop in daytime temperatures.

“A spell of cooler weather, along with rain, is expected over the next 48 hours across many parts of J&K, thanks to a Western Disturbance and active monsoon winds,” Faizan said.

“There is a possibility of intense showers and even cloudbursts at a few locations,” he added, noting that temperatures will remain below seasonal averages across the region.

The forecast also cautioned about gusty winds and the likelihood of hailstorms in some areas during this period.

In the past few weeks, Jammu and Kashmir—especially parts of Kashmir broke all previous temperature records, as the maximum temperature in Srinagar crossed 37°C, breaking a 72-year-old record. (JKNS)
