Sopore: Continuing its sustained crackdown against drug trafficking, Sopore Police today apprehended a drug peddler during a naka checking operation at Maharajpora, Sopore.
Police spokesperson in a statement isaued here to news agency JKNS, Around 1330 hours, a police team deployed at the checkpoint noticed a person moving suspiciously along the roadside. On seeing the naka party, the individual attempted to flee but was tactfully intercepted by alert police personnel, it reads.
The accused was identified as Latif Ahmad Lasso, son of Habibullah Lasso, resident of Maharajpora Sopore. During his personal search, a polythene bag containing psychotropic tablets was recovered, it reads.
In this regard, FIR No. 147/2025 under Section 8/22 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Sopore, and the accused has been taken into custody. Further investigation is underway.
