Sopore, Aug 9 (JKNS): Senior Superintendent of Police Sopore, Iftkhar Talib, on Saturday said that comprehensive multi-layered security measures have been put in place across Sopore to ensure smooth and peaceful Independence Day celebrations.
Speaking to media persons as per news agency JKNS, SSP Iftkhar said security has been further strengthened to prevent any untoward incident. “Our arrangements are aimed at ensuring a peaceful environment, and the cooperation of the people of Sopore has been commendable,” he said.
The officer credited residents and civil society for their active role in maintaining peace and enabling public events in the run-up to August 15. “These programmes are possible because of public participation and trust. Build-up activities will continue till Independence Day,” he added.
On the issue of drug abuse, SSP Talib reiterated the police’s resolve to curb the menace, stressing that community involvement is essential. “We will act strictly against those involved in the trade, but we also need public support to eliminate this problem,” he said.
ADC Sopore S. A. Raina, ASP Sopore, SDPO, CRPF, Revenue officials, officers from Horticulture, Agriculture, Food, Civil Society, R&B, PHE, Education and other departments also participated in the rally. (JKNS)
