Shopian, Aug 13 (JKNS): Full Dress Rehearsal for the upcoming 79th Independence Day celebrations was on Wednesday held at District Police Lines (DPL), Shopian with patriotic enthusiasm and vibrant participation of the public.
Additional District Development Commissioner, Shopian, Dr. Nasir Ahmad Lone was the Chief Guest,who on the occasion,hoisted the Tricolour, took salute at the march past and inspected the parade.
Impressive march past by contingents of J&K Police, CRPF, JK Ladies Police, Home Guard, FPF and school children was presented.
In his address, ADDC extended warm greetings to the people of the district on the occasion and recalled the supreme sacrifices of freedom fighters and countless unsung heroes who laid down their lives for India’s Independence.He urged citizens, especially the young to uphold the values of unity, peace and dedication towards the nation.
Highlighting the district’s progress,ADDC outlined major developmental activities completed and underway including construction and upgradation of roads to improve connectivity in rural areas,implementation of employment generation and welfare schemes, agricultural and allied sector initiatives under HADP and promoting socio-economic upliftment. Ongoing work on water supply schemes under JJM and credit financing under Mission Yuva,modernization of educational institutions and introduction of skill development for youth and other development interventions was also highlighted by the Chief Guest.
On the occasion of Independence Day celebrations,ADDC reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to ensure inclusive growth and good governance to improve the quality of life for all residents.
The event concluded with patriotic and cultural performances by school children depicting India’s freedom struggle and rich cultural heritage, drawing applause from the audience.
