Srinagar, Aug 15 (JKNS): Cluster University Srinagar (CUS) on Friday celebrated the 79th Independence Day at its administrative block, where Vice Chancellor Prof. Mohammad Mobin hoisted the national flag and took the Guard of Honour presented by NCC cadets as the national anthem played.
“As we celebrate our nation’s independence, we must also recognize the role of education in empowering citizens, promoting national unity, and driving socio-economic progress,” Prof. Mobin as per news agency JKNS said in his address, recalling the country’s remarkable progress over the last seven decades under visionary leadership.
“Independence Day reminds us of the sacrifices of our forefathers and inspires us to work towards a brighter future for our nation. Let us recommit to our mission of providing quality education that fosters critical thinking, creativity, and social responsibility,” he added.
The event was attended by Dean Academic Affairs Prof. Nazir Ahmad Simnani, Registrar Prof. Syed Wilayat Hussain Rizvi, Controller of Examinations Prof. Khurshid Ahmad Mir, principals of constituent and affiliated colleges, deans of various faculties, and other senior officials.
Registrar Prof. Syed Wilayat Rizvi, who conducted the proceedings, highlighted the significance of the occasion.
Pertinently, the constituent colleges of the university, including Govt. College for Women, Amar Singh College, S.P. College, Abdul Ahad Azad Memorial Degree College, and the Institute of Advanced Studies in Education, also marked Independence Day with flag hoisting ceremonies led by their respective principals.
