Budgam, Aug 20 (JKNS): The Department of Geology and Mining, with assistance from local police, busted an illegal riverbed material (RBM) mining operation in the Kanigund Sukhnag Nallah area here on Tuesday.
Acting on a complaint, a team supervised by District Mining Officer (DMO) Budgam and assisted by the Station House Officer (SHO) Beerwah, raided the site, details qs per news agency JKNS stated.
Several tractors were found illegally transporting RBM. Upon seeing the officials, the drivers detached their trolleys and fled the scene. Officials then seized the trolleys, along with the loaded material, and transported them to Police Station Beerwah.
During the operation, a large quantity of illegally dumped RBM was also discovered along the embankments of the Nallah. This material was also seized and taken to the police station for official auction.
The entire operation, from the raid to the transportation of the seized materials, took nearly 10 hours to complete. (JKNS)
