GANDERBAL, APRIL 09: The District Magistrate Ganderbal, Shafqat Iqbal today directed the surveillance teams deployed in Red Zone areas of the district for screening to ensure all persons living in these areas are screened so that chain of covid-19 virus would be broken.
The DM made these remarks while visiting Guzhama and Waskura Villages which are declared Red Zones after two positive cases were reported in Guzhama village to review the situation on ground.
SSP Ganderbal, Khalil Poswal and ADM Ganderbal, Farooq Ahmad Baba accompanied him.
During the visit 4000 masked were also handed over to the PRIs for door to door distribution among the people in the Red Zone area. The DM assured the PRIs that District Administration will provide more stitched masks as per requirement in the area.
On the occasion, he instructed the Police Personnel and Revenue Officials to enforce the restrictions in Red Zone Areas in letter and spirit.
While appreciating the role of Surveillance Teams in such life threating crisis he urged them that door to door screening of people residing in Red Zones must be conducted expeditiously in strict manner following all guidelines.
He urged the PRIs to take social responsibility in identification of persons who might have come in contact with the positive cases in the Red Zone areas so that necessary action is initiated in larger interest of public.
He also urged the officials to follow proper guidelines while dealing with the evolving corona virus situation in the district.
To prevent the spread of the virus, the District Administration has intensified its efforts besides fumigation drives have been carried in the Red Zone areas of the district especially in public places.
