Srinagar, Aug 25 (JKNS): Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday reacted to PDP president Mehbooba Mufti’s protest in Srinagar against the detention of political prisoners lodged in jails across the country.
Speaking to media persons in Srinagar, Omar Abdullah as per news agency JKNS said, “If she is protesting, let her. But it would have been better if she had gone to Delhi and spoken to the leadership there, because all such issues are being decided in Delhi. As we did, we went to Delhi and raised these matters. If she still wants to protest, she can.”
On being asked about the Supreme Court’s decision to dismiss an urgent hearing on restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, the Chief Minister replied, “I don’t know who went to court for an urgent hearing. I am here right now as Chief Minister in front of you because of the Supreme Court. They ordered elections and gave time frame and I am here because of that. But they didnt gave time frame for statehood that is why we are having to wait.”
The next hearing is scheduled for October 10, and I hope that time time frame will be given and we will get something after 10 October, Omar said. (JKNS)
