DC Srinagar, SMC Commissioner Review Flood Preparedness in City

SRINAGAR AUGUST 27:- In order to assess the preparedness measures put in place in view of the prevailing weather conditions, the Deputy Commissioner(DC) Srinagar, Akshay Labroo, along with Commissioner Srinagar Municipal Corporation(SMC), Faz Lul Haseeb Wednesday evening conducted a comprehensive tour of various City areas.

During the tour, the DC and Commissioner SMC inspected key locations prone to waterlogging, vulnerable areas & key installations including Flood Control Room at Ram Munshi Bagh, dewatering pump station at Lal Mandi, Kursu Rajbagh locality , Padshahi Bagh, Panthachowk, Khonmoh and other vulnerable areas.

The DC and SMC Commissioner took first hand appraisal of the ongoing mitigation efforts and readiness of preventive and protective measures at vulnerable spots to prevent any flood like situation.
Instructions were passed on to departments to maintain full operational preparedness & close coordination to put ensure effective & multi sectoral systems of response. Emphasizing the importance of preventive action, directions were given to all concerned departments to stay updated & on alert to tackle any situation.

Stress was laid on ensuring that the necessary mitigation strategies including both Human Resources & machinery are effectively & optimally mobilised and kept in ready mode.

They also interacted with the local residents and urged the public to stay informed through official updates and report any important information to the designated helpline numbers.
The Deputy Commissioner also informed the public that all the administrative wings are on alert and are closely monitoring the situation and there is no need or cause for any panic.

Senior Officers of all line Departments accompanied the DC & Comm SMC during the visit.
