Srinagar, Aug 29 (JKNS): Crimean Branch Kashmir on Friday said it has filed two separate FIRs against two individuals accused of duping people in land fraud cases in Srinagar.

Spokesperson in a statement issued here to news agency JKNS that the Economic Offences Wing has registered cases against Riyaz Ahmad Bhat, son of Ghulam Mohammad Bhat of Nowgam Srinagar, and Shabir Ahmad Wani, son of Mohammad Ismail Wani of Lasjan Srinagar, for cheating, forging revenue documents and criminal breach of trust.

Statement reads, one complaint was lodged by a woman who alleged that Riyaz Ahmad Bhat sold her one kanal and five marlas of land at Moza Balhama for ₹25 lakh, but later sold the same land to another person. “Even the cheques issued by the accused towards repayment were dishonoured,” the official said.

In another case, the two accused allegedly sold 1 kanal and 10 marlas of land at Balhama, Patha Chowk for ₹73 lakh. “Though a sale deed was executed, the accused, in connivance with some revenue officials, fabricated records and resold the land to another buyer,” it added.

Statement further reads, both accused were earlier named in FIR No. 14/2025 and arrested for similar offences. “Investigations into both fresh cases have been launched and any role of revenue officials or other persons will be dealt with strictly under law,” statement reads. (JKNS)
