Ramban, Aug 31 (JKNS): Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Sunday visited Marog and Bali Nallah in Ramban district to review the damage caused to National Highway-44 following days of incessant rainfall, cloudbursts and flash floods.
During the inspection, the CM, as per news agency JKNS, said, “Highways have been damaged at several locations. I have spoken to NHAI and the district administrations. They have informed me that complete restoration may take 20–25 days, but an alternate route has been made operational to facilitate double-side traffic.”
Omar Abdullah further noted, “The continuous heavy rainfall over the past few days has caused massive damage to the highway in Ramban as well as Udhampur. Once the Udhampur stretch is restored, we will be able to release more traffic from here.”
On the cloudburst in Rajgarh, he added, “Yesterday, the MLA spoke with me and I immediately instructed my officers to announce relief. The DC and SP reached the spot, arrangements were made by the Red Cross too, and we will ensure all necessary support is provided to the affected families.” (JKNS)
