Ramban, Sep 1 (JKNS): District Magistrate Ramban, Mohammad Alyas Khan, on Monday ordered a complete ban on swimming, bathing, fishing, and roaming near River Chenab and other Nallahs within the jurisdiction of the district.
The order, issued under Section 163 BNSS, cites the extreme hazards posed by strong undercurrents, unpredictable depth, and slippery terrain, which have led to several tragic incidents of drowning and other water-related mishaps in the past. The DM said the risk becomes more severe during the rainy season when water levels rise, creating an imminent threat to human life.
The ban has been enforced with immediate effect, and anyone found violating the order will face strict legal action. The Senior Superintendent of Police, along with concerned magistrates, tehsildars, SHOs, and in-charge police posts, have been directed to ensure its strict implementation across the district. (JKNS)
