Kulgam, Sep 3 (JKNS): In a heroic effort amidst torrential floods, the Jammu and Kashmir Police (JkP) have successfully rescued a newborn baby, bringing hope to a community battered by relentless rainfall.

The dramatic rescue operation took place earlier today as floodwaters submerged large parts of the region, posing severe risks to residents.

Local authorities as per news agency JKNS reported that the Kulgam Police team under the supervision of SSP Kulgam Sh Sahil Saranghal acted swiftly after receiving an emergency call about a stranded family, including the newborn, trapped in their inundated home. Braving chest-high water and strong currents, the officers navigated the hazardous conditions to reach the family, ensuring the safe evacuation of the infant and its loved ones. The baby, wrapped in a blanket, was carefully handed over to medical personnel for a thorough check-up, and fortunately, was found to be in stable condition.

The floods, triggered by heavy downpours over the past few days, have caused widespread disruption in the Frisal Area, with several homes and roads submerged. The JkP, alongside other emergency response units, continues to conduct rescue and relief operations to assist affected residents. This latest rescue underscores the bravery and dedication of the police force, earning them the heartfelt gratitude of the community.

Authorities are urging residents to stay vigilant and follow safety advisories as the situation remains critical. More updates on the ongoing relief efforts are expected as the region works to recover from this natural calamity. (JKNS)
