Srinagar, Sep 4 (JKNS): Amid flood like situation in parts of Kashmir while floodwaters rose in several areas of South Kashmir, the Indian Army’s Chinar Warriors swung into action, mounting large-scale rescue and relief operations to save lives and restore vital links.

Reports reaching news agency JKNS, that columns were rushed at short notice from forward bases after parts of Anantnag, Kulgam and Pulwama districts were inundated.

In flood hit pampore areas the army’s 55RR were seen evacuating people and distributing food, videos of which had gone viral on
social media.

Braving relentless rains and hostile conditions, troops deployed rescue boats, medical teams and essential supplies to evacuate residents marooned in submerged homes.

Dozens of families, including children, elderly persons and those with urgent medical needs, were rescued and shifted to safer locations. In certain cases, critically ill patients were airlifted. Temporary shelters were established where displaced people were provided food, clean water and blankets. Army doctors treated several cases of hypothermia, dehydration and trauma at the spot.

In villages cut off by landslides and washed-away bridges, Army engineers worked tirelessly to clear debris, rebuild footbridges and reconnect critical routes, ensuring stranded locals could access safety and relief. The operations were carried out in close coordination with the civil administration and disaster response agencies.

Meanwhile in a post on X, a post on X, Chinar Corps said: “Indian Army to the rescue. Amidst devastating floods in South Kashmir, Chinar Warriors sprang into action rescuing stranded citizens, delivering relief and medical aid, and extending a lifeline of hope. Steadfast in commitment. #Kashmir #IndianArmy #FloodRelief #HumanityFirst.”

Army officials reiterated their resolve, stating, “The Indian Army remains committed to the safety and well-being of our citizens. Our troops are on the ground, providing not just assistance, but also hope, amidst this calamity.” (JKNS)
