Brief Rain Spells Likely Upto Sep 12: Director MET

Srinagar, Sep 6 (JKNS): The Meteorological Centre Srinagar on Saturday issued a weather forecast for Jammu and Kashmir, predicting light to moderate rain spells over the next few days but ruling out any major activity till September 12.

Director Meteorological Department Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad, as per news agency JKNS, said, “On September 6, a brief spell of rain/thunder is expected at a few places.

From September 7–8, light rain/thunder may occur at scattered to many places of J&K, with chances of moderate rain/thunder over some districts of Jammu Division during late night or early morning hours,” he said.

The forecast further stated that from September 9–12, brief rain/thundershower activity is likely at a few places. “Overall, nothing significant is expected till September 12,” Dr. Mukhtar said.

Meanwhile, the advisory cautioned about the possibility of landslides and shooting stones at vulnerable spots.

Advisory further reads, People have been advised to stay away from water bodies, river embankments, and loose structures.

Farmers have been asked to resume field operations from today and start paddy harvesting from September 9 onwards, advisory reads. (JKNS)
