Srinagar: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda for sanctioning 50 MBBS seats for the newly established Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Institute of Medical Excellence (SMVDIME).
As per news agency JKNS, office of LG J&K wrote, the decision not only fulfills the Shrine Board’s commitment to world-class medical education in Jammu and Kashmir but also aims to strengthen healthcare access and produce skilled medical professionals for underserved areas.
He recalled that the Shrine Board in its 71st meeting held on 19th August 2023 had approved in-principle the establishment of a 50-seat medical college at Kakryal, with plans for its eventual expansion to a 100-seat institution.
“Our aim is to help more MBBS aspirants study within the UT itself. These achievements will ensure greater access to specialized care and build a stronger healthcare system,” LG Sinha said. (JKNS)
