Srinagar, Sep 10 (JKNS): Minister for Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Information Technology, Transport, Youth Services and Sports, Satish Sharma on Wednesday said that the government has ensured smooth supply of essentials across Jammu and Kashmir despite harsh weather conditions, with nearly 36,150 quintals being lifted daily.
Chairing a high-level review meeting, Sharma as per news agency JKNS informed that 210 trucks are deployed every day in Kashmir division, lifting 20,000 quintals of food grains and other essentials, while 190 trucks transport 16,150 quintals daily in Jammu division.
“In total, 400 trucks are engaged round-the-clock across both divisions to maintain uninterrupted supplies,” Minister Satish said.
He emphasized that timely availability of food grains, LPG and other commodities remains a top priority of the government and directed officials to maintain buffer stocks in vulnerable and far-flung areas.
He further appreciated the role of transport authorities and drivers, stressing that close coordination between FCS&CA, JKSRTC and Transport Department is vital to ensure last-mile delivery. (JKNS)
