Srinagar, Sep 11 (JKNS): Cyber Police Kashmir has issued an advisory cautioning the general public against falling prey to an online investment scam being carried out through the mobile application Zupedia and the website Zupedia.com.
In an advisory issued by Cyber Police Srinagar as per news agency JKNS, people are lured into registering on the platform and rating online content.
“After a few days of activity, users are persuaded to recharge with amounts like ₹1,950, ₹8,000, and ₹24,000, following which they are assigned additional tasks. While some initial payments are made, once larger investments are made, victims are unable to withdraw their earnings,” it reads.
The advisory further states that handlers behind the scam eventually disappear, leaving unsuspecting users with financial losses. Cyber Police has urged victims to lodge complaints on the national cybercrime portal www.cybercrime.gov.in or contact the helpline number 1930.
The department has appealed to people to remain vigilant and avoid engaging with such fraudulent platforms, reiterating the message: “Be Alert, Be Safe.” (JKNS)
