Srinagar, Sep 18 (JKNS): Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Thursday said the Government of India has taken note of reports regarding the signing of a strategic mutual defence pact between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan and will closely study its implications.

In response to media queries, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal, as per news agency JKNS, said the government was aware that the development formalizes a long-standing arrangement between the two countries.

“We will study the implications of this development for our national security as well as for regional and global stability. The Government remains committed to protecting India’s national interests and ensuring comprehensive national security in all domains,” Jaiswal said.

Earlier, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan signed a formal mutual defence agreement.

“The agreement states that any aggression against either country shall be considered an aggression against both,” a statement from the Pakistani Prime Minister’s Office said. (JKNS)
