Srinagar, Sep 18 (JKNS): National Conference (NC) Member Parliament from Srinagar, Aga Ruhullah Mehdi, on Thursday responded sharply to minister Sakina Itoo, questioning her criticism of his role in Parliament.
In a detailed post on X, the office of Aga Ruhullah, as per news agency JKNS, remarked that “those who have bent their back in obedience cannot look up to witness the work of those fighting oppression.” The statement said if “servility prevents them from following Parliament or reading official communication, we will gladly courier a compilation of speeches, interventions, and updates to their desks.”
Listing his contributions, Ruhullah’s office highlighted raising the decline of Kashmir’s horticulture sector, meeting Union Home Minister Amit Shah for the release of detainees, flagging illegal detentions and Waqf encroachments, securing CT scans for district hospitals, questioning the government on injustices, spending over five crore rupees under MPLADS, meeting Union Minister Nitin Gadkari to push for expressway extension, and providing PMNRF support to patients suffering from cancer and other critical illnesses.
“All of this remains on public record via Lok Sabha TV and RTI. And as for the unsolicited advice to ‘talk’ — obedience to oppressors may have brought comfort to some, but it left us Kashmiris with the far greater responsibility of confronting that very power,” the post concluded. (JKNS)
