Kulgam, Sept 29 (JKNS): In a spirited tribute to the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, popularly known as the Iron Man of India, Kulgam Police on Monday organized a ‘Run for Unity’ in Qazigund.
The event was held to promote the ideals of unity, integrity, and national integration principles that Sardar Patel tirelessly stood for.
The run commenced from Qazigund upper Bazar and culminated at Railway Station Qazigund, drawing enthusiastic participation from school students and police personnel alike.
The event was formally flagged off by Additional SP National Highway Mumtaz Bhatti, DySP Qazigund Farhan, and SHO Qazigund Syed Nazir Andrabi, all of whom encouraged participants to carry forward the legacy of Sardar Patel.
Speaking on the occasion, Additional SP Mumtaz Bhatti said, “From Kashmir to Kanyakumari, the nation stands united in paying homage to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. This unity run reflects the democratic and progressive spirit of India.”
He also urged the youth, especially students, to uphold national integrity and focus on education. “Stay away from anti-national activities and become ambassadors of positive change,” he advised, calling on students to embrace the values of patriotism and discipline championed by Patel.
Students from various educational institutions, including Shemstar International School Qazigund and Government Boys High School Qazigund, participated in the run. Impressively, students from Shemstar International School secured the top three positions in the race.
To honour their achievements, mementos and appreciation certificates were awarded by Additional SP Mumtaz Bhatti.
As a gesture of goodwill, Kulgam Police also distributed refreshments among all the participants, adding to the spirit of camaraderie and community engagement.
The event served not only as a tribute to one of India’s greatest leaders but also as a strong message of national unity, peace, and communal harmony. (JKNS)
