Srinagar, Oct 10 (JKNS): Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Friday said Jammu and Kashmir Police is not only engaged in counter-terror operations, maintaining law and order, and safeguarding people’s lives, but is also playing a vital role in ensuring socio-economic growth of the Union Territory.
Speaking at the inauguration of the 10th All India Police Judo Cluster (Men & Women) 2025 in Srinagar, the LG Sinha as per news agency JKNS said that J&K Police has created a peaceful and stable environment that has encouraged industrial investment and overall progress across the region.
“Terrorism is breathing its last in J&K. The peace has enabled unprecedented development and greater prosperity in people’s lives. Security has strengthened across the country, left-wing extremism has been dismantled, and India is witnessing a new era of growth driven by rapid economic progress,” Sinha remarked.
The Lieutenant Governor praised J&K Police, Army and CAPFs for eliminating terror support networks and preventing cross-border infiltration. He stressed the need for intelligence-based operations and adopting a comprehensive strategy to meet emerging internal security challenges.
Sinha also appreciated the role of Jammu and Kashmir Police in creating a fearless atmosphere for citizens to live and work.
Highlighting the significance of sports, the Lieutenant Governor said it nurtures courage, unity, friendship, and equality while building the character of youth. “Sports is the universal language of harmony and inclusivity. Events like the All India Police Judo Cluster celebrate Unity in Diversity and reflect India’s rich cultural and social ethos,” he said.
The LG urged youth to channel their energy and talent for the nation’s service, cultivating qualities of compassion and resilience.
The event is hosting more than 2,000 athletes from across the country, competing in Judo, Wushu, Pencak Silat, Taekwondo and Karate, under the banner of Jammu and Kashmir Police.
DGP Nalin Prabhat, Special DG Coordination S.J.M. Gillani, ADGP Armed Anand Jain, senior police and civil officials, sports association representatives, and prominent personalities were present on the occasion. (JKNS)
